Ripple Effect - Domestic Violence in Australia

In Australia an average of one woman a week is murdered by her partner or ex-partner following a history of domestic violence. The forces preventing a woman from leaving a violent relationship are complex and directly contribute to the abuse, control and deaths of many women each year.

It was an honour to have been invited to film the stories of domestic violence survivors. Three powerful, determined and beautiful women who each had the strength to say "Enough!" to their abusers. Love and respect to each one of you.

The forces preventing a woman from leaving a violent relationship are complex and directly contribute to the abuse, control and deaths of many women each year. This film looks at those forces and how we can collectively support a woman needing to escape a violent relationship.

Nomad Films working with Connecting Hands in Phnom Penh

The old railway line in Phnom Penh is home to hundreds of sex workers who earn anywhere from $1-$5 from each 'client'. The rent for their homes (a spartan room on stilts above open sewerage) is around $20-$25 a month. This lady, once she gives birth to her child will most likely return to the trade within 2-5 days. If she and her child are to eat and have a place to live there is no option.
Connecting Hands is working to break this cycle. Please check out their page.
